Empowering communities: PGLDN extends vital services to Maigo residents via EMBP

MAIGO, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--Instilling compassion and unity, the provincial government of Lanao del Norte has taken an extraordinary stride towards improving the lives of its residents.

Through the Especial Mass-Based Program (EMBP), the provincial government has reached out to the hinterlands of Barangay Mahayahay and its neighboring areas, delivering a diverse range of services that have kindled hope for the residents. This is the first EMBP activity for the year 2023.

Bringing together various departments and offices, the EMBP was a testament to cooperation, aimed at bridging the gap between government services and the people they serve.

The Provincial Health Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Population Office, Provincial Veterinary Office, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Provincial Agriculture Office, Provincial Engineer's Office, Provincial Legal Office, and Provincial Community Affairs Office stood as pillars of support, extending their hands to uplift lives.

The program offered a wide range of services, including medical and dental care, the provision of medicines, thorough diabetes screenings, and hosting diverse health programs. Additionally, residents received kits to start their gardens, along with fertilizers and vegetable seeds, to promote local agriculture. Legal advice, assessments of community facilities, and the distribution of forest and fruit tree seedlings were also conducted.

Moreover, social welfare assistance was also given, such as supplemental feeding and helping people with Disabilities get the assistive devices they need. Elderly residents in need received support, such as a social pension, medical assistance, burial aid, and educational support.

Family planning sessions and counseling were offered, along with educational materials and birth control. The program also offered veterinary services, including treatments for parasites, vitamin shots, vaccinations against rabies, neutering, and giving out multivitamins.

"This is one of the programs ng provincial government that brings the government closer to the people. Kita ang gaduol sa katawhan nga di sila makaduol sa ubos, though we have good provincial roads now [This is one of the programs of the provincial government that brings the government closer to the people. We engage with the communities that face difficulties in accessing services, though we have good provincial roads now]," said Gov. Imelda "Angging" Dela Cruz Quibranza.

Harmonious collaboration

The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army provided free haircuts, massage therapy, and circumcision services.

Simultaneously, the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office also extended free haircuts, distributed slippers and school supplies to children, and established a mobile library.

Brigadier General Anthon G. Abrina, commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, underscored the paramount importance of unity and collaboration in maintaining peace and order. Police Colonel Sandy Vales, director of the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, envisioned a police force that not only protected but actively nurtured the community.

Gratitude and appreciation

Maigo Mayor Rafael C. Rizalda expressed his elation and gratitude to the provincial government for their services.

"Nagpasalamat mi na ingani ang padagan ni Gov. na nakatabang pud sa ingon namo na minus kaayo na wala gyu’y ikapamalit [We are grateful that the governor has this program that helps people who have financial hardships]," said Honorio Malay.

Moreover, Fe Sacnanas is thankful for the medical mission that has brought much-needed healthcare services to the local community.

The remarkable initiative of the provincial government through EMBP has undeniably demonstrated the true essence of empowerment and unity within communities. By extending a diverse array of essential services to the residents of Barangay Mahayahay and neighboring areas, the government has bridged the gap between governance and the people it serves, ultimately enriching lives and nurturing hope.
