The participating youths are from City Youth Development Office (CYDO), Apuradong Kabataan ng Puerto Princesa (AKAPP), SK Development Program, and LYDC.
Aside from joining environmental protection activities, the local youths will also participate in giving services such as involvement in Brigada Eskwela, distribution of allowances to persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and Barangay Tanod. Blood donating activities will also be hosted during the celebration in August.
Puerto Princesa Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President and City Councilor Myka Mabelle Magbanua explained that the Youth Festival celebration in the city was based on RA 10742 or SK Reform Law.
Youths as Junior Government Officials
The youths will also be exposed to the job of government officials through an immersion program from August 14- 31. The elected members of AKAPP will have a chance to serve as junior government officials and department heads.
CYDO Head Ralph Richard Asuncion said the number of participating youths of AKAPP increased in the second year of its implementation coming from schools and barangays.
It is also an opportunity for youths to be trained in leadership and communication to develop them as young leaders.
“Ang mga kabataan ay mabigyan ng pagkakataon na maging mga batang mayor, bise mayor, konsehal at puno ng iba’t ibang departamento. Ito ay ginagawa rin sa ibang lungsod pero ngayon ay pinalaki pa ng Sanggunian Kabataan Federation,” he said.
