2nd MPPMFC’s Pabahay Project, a glimmer of hope for an indigent family in Paracelis

(PIA)-- “PNPKakampiMo”.  Police officers in Mountain Province proved that this tagline of the Philippine National Police is indeed true.

On August 16, 2023, Mountain Province Police Provincial Office(MPPPO) Provincial Director PCOL Sibly P. Dawiguey Jr. and PLTCOL Daniel P Fakat, OIC Force Commander of the 2nd Mountain Province Provincial Mobile Force Company(MPPMFC) led the formal turnover of a newly constructed house to Dolores Ambatali in Purok 4, Turod, Palitud, Paracelis.

Dolores, a mother of five minor children, is a widow and a person with disability suffering from a serious medical condition.

The house is the first project of the 2nd MPPMFC  on  the Pabahay Program under the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay, and was realized through the help of various kind-hearted individuals.

The project was conceived when some personnel from the Department of Education lobbied to include some children in the Enhanced Education Program of the MPPMFC.

Checking on the background of these children, the police found out that they are the children of Dolores. There are five of them and they are living with their disabled mother in a shanty made up nearly dilapidated iron sheets and moldering woods. Unable to work because of her medical condition, some of the children have to sacrifice their education to work to help for their daily subsistence.

Given the circumstances, the 2nd MPPMFC decided to help the family and sought partnership with the SAF-Troopers-Mountain Province Chapter that was then looking for a recipient for their anniversary.

From the initial voluntary donations of PNP personnel and with their carpentry skills, they started to build the house last June 9. Soon, other individuals including contractors and politicians supported the project providing donations in cash and in kind and even labor.

Through   concerted efforts,  the house was built in two months- time. It was blessed and turned over to the beneficiary family on August 16.

Dawiguey Jr., Fakat, Assistant Municipal Administrator-Paracelis LGU Larry Signabon, Florencio Balog-ang representing Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog Jr., and Engr. Oliver Balajo from CENRO Paracelis handed over the key to the family of Dolores.

Barangay mates were there to celebrate with the family.

Dolores expressed gratitude to all those who have helped in providing her family a decent dwelling.

Dolores Ambatali of Turod, Palitud, Paracelis expresses her heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed in giving her familiy a safe and study house.

Dawiguey said the project is a symbol of unity for development. “This program signifies that police officers are not just implementers of the law but are also partners for peace and progress. Further, this also justifies that if we have unity, we can help each other to better our lives,” he said.

MPPPO Provincial Director PCOL Sibly P. Dawiguey Jr

Dawiguey advised the family to take good care of the house, and make it a home of God, a home full of joy and kindness. He also expressed hope that this decent house will inspire the children to become productive members of the community and assets in the campaign towards attaining a safer and more peaceful community.

Fakat also shared that modern police work entails more than maintaining peace and order. With the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay, the PNP are now delivering basic services to the citizenry and helping in improving the quality of life of the people. “Today, policing is community service and as a manifestation of that is this pabahay project which aims to alleviate the burden of a family whose status fall below the poverty threshold,” Fakat said.

Also, during the house blessing, the PNP provided 30 families in Palitud relief goods and hygiene kits from the Police Regional Office-Cordillera

These  actions show  the PNP’s continuous efforts in bringing services  to the grassroots  especially in far-flung areas to promote peace and order and development.(JDP/CVBT-PIA CAR, Mountain Province)
