Teaching road safety principles to students in an engaging, memorable way is crucial to building safe driving habits that will last a lifetime. Beyond traditional lectures and materials, interactive and hands-on activities can really drive these vital lessons home.
That is why the Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently unveiled the Road Safety Interactive Center (RSIC), an innovative facility aimed at instilling road safety knowledge and positive habits in younger generations.
Located at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City, this state-of-the-art educational center brings road safety principles to life through immersive, hands-on exhibits tailor-fit for students.
The interactive stations at the RSIC allow children and teens to learn by doing. Driving simulators for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles let students practice operating vehicles safely.
Letting students experience operating vehicles first-hand through virtual reality and by mimicking real-world driving conditions in a safe, controlled environment enable children to practice good habits behind the wheel. VR lessons can cover distracted and impaired driving, speed management, intersections, weather conditions, and more.

Interactive games quiz students on important road traffic signs, signals, and regulations. Road safety videos are projected on screen in a 4D mini theater that teaches lessons on child passengers, teen driving, pedestrians, and theft prevention.

According to Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II, chief of the LTO, it is important for children to get introduced to this kind of facility that focuses on road safety.
Mendoza also strongly encouraged schools to schedule visits to the RSIC.
By engaging future motorists while they’re young, the LTO hopes to foster a new generation of safe, responsible road users.
The RSIC’s immersive, hands-on exhibits are designed to capture students’ attention and drive home important safety messages.
As Secretary Mendoza noted, “The elementary and high school students are the next generations of motorists.” Getting them actively involved in road safety education from a young age can instill good habits and decision-making skills that will keep them safe as drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and citizens.
