In an interview, Cayong shared that he didn't hesitate to return the pouch because he firmly believes that it's the right thing to do.
“I did not hesitate na ibalik kase alam ko ‘ung feeling na mawalan ng mga bagay na mahalaga sayo at naranasan ko din ‘yun saka di ko naman pagmamay-ari ‘yun kaya bilang isang anak ng Diyos eh dapat gawin ang nararapat,” (I didn't hesitate to return it because I know the feeling of losing something valuable, and I've experienced that. Besides, it's not mine, so as a child of God, I felt it was the right thing to do), Cayong said.
On the recognition given him, Cayong said he did not expect his simple act of honesty to get such attention. But extended gratitude to the Lord and those who appreciated his action.
Recently, a teacher, Carmelyne Taguiling was also commended for her honesty after surrendering a sling bag she found containing P77,000 in cash and a driver’s license, to Radyo Kiphodan. The bag was eventually returned to its rightful owner.(JDP/FBR-PIA Ifugao)
