MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- Barangay Bonifacio in Calamba town is pushing for a transformative effort, demonstrating that Governor Henry Oaminal's main goal is to provide every Misamisnon with high-quality public services.

The provincial government’s water system project has become a lifeline for the residents of the province’s far-flung communities. For years, these people have been suffering from water scarcity, forcing them to exert extra effort to go through difficult digging just to acquire such essential life requirements.

Tatay, a resident in the area, shared how hard it is for him to get water. He has to walk miles-after-miles while carrying heavy water containers, rain or shine. When it’s muddy, it's harder for him to cross and trek the bumpy roads. He was teary-eyed while sharing his experiences.

“I had to walk for miles, carrying heavy containers, just to fetch water. It was a grueling and time-consuming task. Our daily lives revolved around this quest for water, leaving little room for other pursuits,” Tatay said in the vernacular, Bisaya.

Tatay was just one of hundreds of residents who had to suffer day by day to get potable water. Hence, Oaminal initiated the water system project to help the community ease the burden.

The implementation of the water project, including the setting of pipelines, reservoirs, and distribution points, was a paradigm shift for Barangay Bonifacio—bringing the life-giving water resource closer to the people’s homes.

There is no need for lengthy walks in the heat of the sun to get water. There was a sense of relief for the residents. It’s more convenient. Tatay, along with other residents in the area, express heartfelt gratitude to Oaminal.

“We are immensely grateful to Oaminal for making this project a reality. Our lives have changed, and we can now focus on building a better future for our families,” they said.

The water system project not only exemplifies the provincial government's commitment to improving the quality of life for its constituents but also serves as a beacon of hope for other communities grappling with similar challenges.

At least 139 households from Barangay Bonifacio, Calamba town, benefited from the P5 million worth of the Water System Project of Governor Oaminal’s administration. It will ensure sufficient water supply within communities.
