'TESDAmayan' helps earthquake victims in Antique

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA)- - Antique residents who were displaced due to recent earthquake received assistance from the government.

The TESDAmayan assistance to earthquake victims program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) gave relief goods to evacuees in Valderrama town recently.

A total of 85 evacuees received relief goods from TESDA Antique and TVET schools of St. Anthony’s College (SAC), Westtrade Technical Training (WTT) and Assessment Center, and Advance Central College (ACC).

TESDA Antique Provincial Director Engr. Glenn N. Murphy with Valderrama mayor Mary Joyce M. Roquero led the distribution of assistance at Valderrama Central Elementary School, which was converted to an evacuation center for the affected families.

Murphy thanked Roquero and Valderrama local government for coordinating with TESDA.

He also encouraged the evacuees to avail the various free scholarship programs offered by the agency.

SAC Technical Education Department Head Clydie Joy D. Alfonga also affirmed her support in partnership with TESDA to provide training programs and assistance by prioritizing displaced residents of Brgy. Igmasandig.

The representative of WTT also expressed the training center’s readiness to give training programs in driving and shielded metal arc welding to potential enrollees from affected residents.

Igmasandig barangay captain Erico L. Zerrudo also received the relief goods and expressed his gratitude to TESDA, TVET schools and Valderrama LGU.

All evacuees were residents from Barangay Igmasandig who were seriously affected by the earthquake last June 7, 2021 which recorded an Intensity IV in the municipality of Valderrama.

Relief goods distributed per family consisted of 4.5 kilogrqms of rice, canned goods, toothpaste, bucket, body soap, clothing detergents, napkin, razor, sanitizer and dipper. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique/TESDA)
