(There is an increase of 400 percent (of COVID-19 cases) in the Municipality of Mambajao. Today, we placed the areas under total lockdown; strict localized lockdown here in Poblacion, Mambajao)

In a public emergency broadcast, June 30, Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said the individuals, who mainly work at the town’s market area, tested positive of COVID-19 via rapid antigen.

Thus, the Provincial Government of Camiguin resorted to reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing and 40 of them yielded positive of COVID-19.

The Municipal Government of Mambajao issued the Executive Order No. 12 Series of 2021 or the order declaring certain areas in Barangay Poblacion, Mambajao, under localized lockdown and focused containment or enhanced community quarantine, June 29.

Movements are not allowed in the said area, June 29 to July 13, 2021.

Romualdo added that they are also awaiting the RT-PCR results of the individuals, who tested positive in the rapid antigen test from Mahinog (1), Sagay (5), and Catarman (1).

“I hope wala pa ni siya nga Delta variant pero it doesn’t mean nga mukumpyansa. Kung naa’y inyong gabation, ireport dayon sa barangay para macheck nato diha,” the governor said.

(I hope the Delta variant is not yet here but this doesn’t mean that we will become complacent. If you are ill, report immediately to the barangay so we can check)

Aside from strictly following the health protocols, Romualdo urges the residents to have themselves vaccinated once the supplies are available, especially the senior citizens and those with co-morbidities. (RTP/PIA-10)
