COVID – 19 vaccination in CAR reaches 130K priority population as of June 24

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The Cordillera Regional Vaccination Operations Center reported that 130,613 eligible priority population are inoculated since the COVID – 19 vaccination rollout in Cordillera last March.

Of the number, 53,724 individuals are already fully vaccinated or have completed their two doses of vaccines.

Based on the Cordillera RVOC RESBAKUNA Bulletin as of June 24, of the 130,613 eligible population in the region who  are vaccinated at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccines, 42,184 are frontline health workers (A1); 43,192 are senior citizens (A2); 43,282 3are adults with co – morbidities (A3); 673 are essential service workers (A4) and 282 are under priority A5 or the poor population.

Of the vaccinated population, 72,216 received Sinovac vaccine; 40,626   with AstraZeneca; 300 with Gamaleya Sputnik V while 15,571   received Pfizer vaccine.

For those who already completed their vaccination, 30,861   are from Priority A1; 13,682   are A2, and 9,181  from the A3 group.

The RVOC also reported that as of June 24, a total of 235,300 doses of COVID – 19 vaccines was allotted for Cordillera, mostly Sinovac and AstraZeneca.  Only Baguio City received Gamaleya (5,400 doses) and Pfizer (35,100 doses) as it is the only local government unit that has freezers that can handle the super cool temperature requirement of said vaccines.

RVOC Chairperson and Department of Health – Cordillera Regional Director  Ruby Constantino said   it is the National VOC that decides on the allocation and deployment of vaccines which  is  generally based on the capacity of the LGUs’  capacity to handle the vaccines, utilization or vaccination capacity and on the COVID – 19 risk level in the community.

With  the expected arrival of more vaccines, Constantino advised  local vaccination operations centers and implementing units to learn from their experiences and continue upgrading their vaccination and deployment micro plans.

She also  reminded  about the  “Tutok A2” program   to expedite all strategies to reach out to the remaining unvaccinated senior citizens in the region. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
