ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - The Inter Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has recommended that the city and province of Iloilo will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until July 15, 2021.
This was announced by Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque Jr. during the “Talk to the People” address of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday, June 28.
“Ito po ang rekomendasyon ng inyong IATF para sa ating quarantine classifications para po a-uno ng Hulyo hanggang 31. Pero itong mga areas under MECQ po, ang classification nila ay hanggang July 15 lamang (This is the recommendation of your IATF for the quarantine qualification for July 1 to 31. But these areas under MECQ their qualification will be until July 15 only),” Roque reported to President Duterte.
Aside from the city and province of Iloilo in Region VI, other areas in the country that were placed under MECQ are: Region II - Cagayan; CAR – Apayao; Region III - Bataan; Region IV-A - Lucena City; Region IV-B - Puerto Princesa City; Region V - Naga City; Region VII - Negros Oriental; Region IX - Zamboanga del Sur at Zamboanga del Norte; Region X - Cagayan de Oro City; Region XI - Davao City, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, and Davao del Norte; and CARAGA- Butuan City, Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Sur.
Roque said the National Capital Region and the provinces of Rizal and Bulacan were recommended to be placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with some restrictions until July 15.
Also, Laguna and Cavite are under GCQ “with heightened restrictions” until July 15.
Other areas recommended to be placed under GCQ include the following: CAR -Baguio City and Ifugao; Region II- City of Santiago,Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino; Region IV A -Batangas and Quezon; Region VI - Guimaras, Aklan, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Antique, and Capiz; Region IX - Zamboanga Sibugay and City of Zamboanga; Region X - Iligan City; Region XII - General Santos City, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Cotabato, South Cotabato; CARAGA- Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur; and BARMM - Cotabato City.
The rest of the areas in the country that were not mentioned were recommended be under Modified General Community Quarantine.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas, in a radio interview, said he is meeting his COVID-19 team today to discuss if the city government will appeal for the reclassification of the MECQ status. They were given until 5 PM to submit their appeal. (JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
