CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)—As the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-10 starts the Step 2 Registration of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in the region, several guidelines were set to still observe the health protocols and obtain necessary information from the applicants.
During the 1st Semester 2021 Normin Socioeconomic Media Forum, June 30, PSA-10 Regional Director Janith Aves said the demographic information needed during the Step 1 Registration include the citizen’s full name, sex, date of birth, place of birth, blood type, permanent address, present address, citizenship, marital status (optional), mobile number (optional), and email address (optional).
Information for Step 1 Registration is obtained through online registration or house-to-house data collection.
Currently, PSA-10 accommodates the applicants who were part of the house-to-house collection. Schedules of their Step 2 Registration are set in a specific registration booth, and a text message is sent to inform them on their schedule as well as to avoid crowding of people.
The biometric information of the applicant captured by the PhilSys Registration Officer in the PhilSys during Step 2 Registration requires a front-facing photograph where the applicant needs to remove earrings, jewelry, headbands or headgears, excessive or dark makeup, and ID laces.
PSA will also need the full set of fingerprints. For applicants with more than 10 fingers, only the ten functional fingers shall be captured. The agency also considers biometric exceptions to instances where it is impossible to capture a complete set of biometrics due to physical impairment or amputation.
The applicant’s two natural iris images should also be captured. Thus, eyeglasses or contact lenses are not allowed.
As of June 25, PSA-10 has already recorded 84,374 registrants for Step 2 Registration that include 18,374 registrants in Bukidnon, Camiguin (3,631), Lanao del Norte (6,478), Misamis Occidental (4,781), and Misamis Oriental (50,848).
The tentative schedule for Step 2 Registration for those who have registered online is in August 2021 while those who opted for institutional registration are scheduled by September 2021. (RTP/PIA-10)
