ANGELES CITY (PIA) -- Additional facilities will be put up at the City College of Angeles (CCA) to properly accommodate scholars upon the resumption of face-to-face classes.
The project includes an additional building with 20 classrooms, will be funded using the P50 million donation from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) last November.
Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said the continuous promotion of education is one of the city government’s priority programs even amid the pandemic.
“We believe that education is the greatest equalizer, which can help the poor get out of poverty. That is why we [city government] continue to promote educational programs to further organize public schools here in Angeles City,” he said.
Lazatin also thanked PAGCOR for being an ally in the city’s advocacy of providing quality education to the Angeleño youth.
For her part, Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas said that once more classrooms are put up at the city college, they will also offer additional courses and hire more professional teachers.
“Even with the pandemic, the city wants to make sure that no Angeleño youth is left behind when it comes to education,” Calaguas said.
To date, CCA offers 16 courses with 3,200 enrolled scholars. It can be recalled that the city government earlier purchased tablets for CCA students to be used in their online classes.
Internet learning cards were also provided for better internet access to the city's free WiFi.
Apart from this soon-to-rise building, P210 million will also be allotted for the city college's infrastructure development. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
