TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite (PIA) --Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade visited two major cities in the province July 2 to reach out to the members of one of the sectors highly affected by the pandemic – the transport sector.
Secretary Tugade paid a courtesy call to 4th District Representative Elpidio ‘Pidi’ Barzaga, and Dasmariñas City Mayor Jenny Austria-Barzaga before the scheduled audience with the transport groups in the city held at The Tent, Dasmariñas Integrated High School.
“Narito 'ho tayo ngayon sa Dasmariñas City sa lalawigan ng Cavite upang makipag-dayalogo sa ating mga kababayang tsuper, operator, at transport cooperatives. Ibabahagi natin sa kanila ang mga programa ng Kagawaran ng Transportasyon na makatutulong sa kanilang kabuhayan sa gitna ng pandemya,” said Sec. Tugade.
(We are here today in Dasmariñas City in the province of Cavite to engage in a dialogue with our fellow drivers, operators, and transport cooperatives. We will share with them programs of the Department of Transportation that will help their livelihood in the midst of a pandemic.)
The activity also aims to listen to the concerns and queries on the programs and services that the department implements such as the Tsuper Iskolar Program, where drivers or their families can be provided with free livelihood training, skills assessment, and financial support from DoTr in partnership with TESDA.
Secretary Tugade added, “Through this program, our drivers will be given the opportunity to train and be given additional knowledge to earn.”
Likewise, the Transport Secretary shared the same agenda with the members of the transport groups in the city of Bacoor during his visit later in the day.
He encouraged all the drivers and operators to join the DoTr’s programs to help uplift their living conditions.
Before the meeting, Secretary Tugade along with Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla personally inspected the ongoing construction of the Bacoor City LTO District Office.
Tugade said, “Sa pagtutulungan ng DOTr, LTO, at lokal na pamahalaan ng Bacoor, ngayong taon ay inaasahang matatapos na ang LTO Bacoor District Office.”
(With the collaboration of DOTr, LTO, and the local government of Bacoor, this year the LTO Bacoor District Office is expected to be completed.)
This will ease in transacting LTO related services because the district office will now be located within the city.
