CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)—This province joined the entire nation in celebrating Arbor Day through a whole day planting of trees and ornamental plants in the 132 barangays on June 25.
OIC-Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Officer, Forester Estrella “Star” Pasion said all the barangays in the province were required to plant at least 100 native trees or ornamental plants not only to comply with the law, but also to nourish the ecosystem of Quirino.
Pasion added that the 'Arbor Day' otherwise known as Tree Planting Day is part of the celebration of World Environment Month.
“Arbor day is a law enacted oi 2012 which mandates provinces, cities, and municipalities to hold a day devoted to planting trees and ornamental plants,” Passion likewise said.
In addition, the activity which is also a part of the province’s 50th Founding Anniversary aims to plant one million trees to give back to Mother Nature and a commitment to take care of the environment.
Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua, who personally joined in the tree and ornamental planting activity at the capitol compound and Saguday Ecopark in Barangay Cardenas, encouraged all the Quirinians to join the Arbor Day not just for the sake of the people today, but for the future generations.
"This activity is an effort of the Community United in Action. Let's continue protecting the environment, the trees, the watersheds in order to produce resources for the people,” Governor Cua said. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
