DA-7 chief lauds partnership in Siquijor's 'Kadiwa'

SIQUIJOR, July 6 (PIA) -- The Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita (Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Kita) that was launched earlier in Siquijor province is a result of the collective and joint efforts of the government, private sector, and the community of Siquijor.

This was stressed by DA-7 Regional Executive Director Salvador Diputado as he lauded the province for coming together for common good in his virtual message during the launching.

Diputado hailed the strong partnership between the national government agencies and the local government through the Office of the Governor, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), DA Provincial Agricultural Technology Coordinating Office (PATCO), and Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative (PROSIELCO) that made the Kadiwa possible in in the province.

“With this, I am truly delighted and grateful for the partnership we have built. Because of the assistance, we have succesfully created a direct chain that connects food producers to consumers and allows a less costly, fresh farm produce to come to the table and gives our farmers and food producers a decent income,” Diputado said.

The DA-7 official said he is looking forward to another partnership for another project that will benefit the farmers, fisherfolks and the local community.

The KADIWA ni Ani at Kita program is DA's response to the COVID-19 pandemic not only to empower farmers and fisherfolks but also to make food and essential needs accessible to people during the pandemic by providing a direct marketing scheme where producers (farmers/fisherfolk) are directly linked with the consuming public in strategic locations.

For Siquijor province, the Kadiwa will be done monthly starting June at the PROSIELCO Solidarity Hall in Nonoc, Larena, Siquijor.

It was launched  in cooperation with the Provincial Agriculture Office, PVO, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and Philippine Coconut Authority with Siquijor Gov. Zaldy Villa spearheading the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Fish, vegetables, fruits, spices, and other food products like breads, pies, snacks, and drinks were on display during the activity.

"Kini nga mga produkto naglangkob kini sa mga basic commodities nga maoy gikinahanglan natu matag adlaw. Tumong niini nga matabangan ang atong mga mag-uuma ug mangingisda nga ma-ilhan sila sa katawhan kung unsa ang ilang baligya aron sayun na lang kini sa paghalin (These products cover the basic commodities needed by people everyday. This aims to help our farmers and fisherfolks so that the community will be aware of what they are selling)," said Agriculturist II and DA-PATCO Officer-In-Charge Rodolfo Anulacion.
