TESDA trainings underway in 18 ELCAC brgys in Mt. Province

BONTOC, Mountain Province, July 6 (PIA) - - Provision of skills training under the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) that can help provide livelihood to people in 18 (Communist/Terrorist Group) cleared barangays here in the province, underway.

The National Task Force to End Local Communist armed conflict (NTF - ELCAC) includes 42 CTG barangays in four provinces and 11 municipalities in Cordillera in the RCSP and among them are 18 barangays from Mountain Province, namely: Bagnen Proper, Bagnen Oriente and Balintaugan of the municipality of Bauko; Dalican, Guinaang and Mainit of Bontoc; Annabel, Bekigan, Belwang, Demang, sacsacan and Saclit of Sadanga; and Aguid, Angkileng, Bangaan, Fidelisan, Madungo and Pide of Sagada.

The TESDA Mountain Province provincial office, in the June 29 second quarter meeting of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Education Cluster of the Regional Task Force - ELCAC, reports that several skills training were already conducted in some of the RCSP barangays and coordination, preparation and drafting of training proposals are ongoing for the other barangays.

In Bauko, trainings on Bread and Pastry and Meat Processing were already conducted in Bagnen proper last May and June, respectively, while for barangay Balantaugan training on driving was also conducted last May.

Proposal for Cake and Bread making training for Bagnen Oriente is also already submitted and coordination, in preparation for the conduct of training is ongoing.

For Bontoc, coordination is now ongoing for the preparations of TESDA training in the three barangays that are included in the RCSP, while in Sagada, coordination with their barangay captains are already done and training proposals that will be submitted to the TESDA Regional Office is on process.

Then for Sadanga, TESDA is in closely coordinating with the office of Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan which currently handling the consultation for the needed skills training with the RCSP barangay beneficiaries in the municipality, as present COVID – 19 related health protocols and guidelines does not allow visitors to come in.

In Bauko, trainings on Bread and Pastry and Meat Processing were   conducted in Bagnen Proper last May and June while training on driving for barangay Balantaugan was done in  May.

Proposal for Cake and Bread making training for Bagnen Oriente has been  submitted and coordination in preparation for the conduct of training is ongoing.

For Bontoc,    preparations of TESDA trainings in the three RCSP barangays are being done  while in Sagada, coordination with concerned   barangay captains is   done and training proposals  are for processing   at  the TESDA Regional Office.

In the meeting, the other TESDA provincial offices of Abra, Ifugao and Kalinga also presented the  status  of skills trainings in the RCSP barangays in their respective areas. Cluster member agencies also shared their accomplishments under the RCSP program.
