DILG, DTI push for safety seal certification

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The provincial government has assured the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) of its compliance to the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21-01 s. 2021 regarding the Implementing Guidelines of the Safety Seal Certification Program.

Provincial Administrator Carmen B. Jimenez said they will remind all the offices to comply with the checklist of requirement for the Safety Seal certification from the DILG.

Based on the report of Provincial Director Salvacion Baccay during the regular Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force meeting, some offices of the provincial government are already compliant with the requirements such as the Office of the Governor, Office of the Provincial Administrator, Office of the Provincial Agriculture and Provincial Veterinary Office.

Baccay further said the issuance of safety seal; safety seal is being monitored by submitting the name of the establishment or office and nature including the address, the name of the person in-charge and the contact details, and the date of issuance of the safety seal certification.

“If not issued on the day of inspection , the reason for non-issuance, and then the mode of acquisition whether it is by application or by regular visit, and whether this seal is posted in their LGU official website or official Facebook page.  I think is acceptable if the LGU does not have a website yet, and complaints received if any, and also the actions taken on such complaints,” Baccay explained.

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has already evaluated 15 business establishments that include 10 hardware stores, three service repair shops and two grocery stores on their compliance to the mandatory health and safety protocols to be eligible for Safety Seal Certification.

DTI Provincial Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag said the safety seal certification assures the consumers and the general public of the establishments’ compliance to the minimum health standards set by the government. (MDCT/TCB/PIA Quirino)
