DOTr to complete Vigan City Airport's Runway Extension

VIGAN CITY, July 9 (PIA) -- From its current 40-passenger capacity, the Vigan City Airport will be able to accommodate at least 124 passengers at any given time as well as accept larger aircrafts once the Runway Extension project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will be completed this year.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said they aim to finish it before June 2021 ends.
The DOTr, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and the Philippine Air Force (PAF), with the help of the city government of Vigan, completed the construction of two Bay Fire Stations in the airport on May 3.

Aside from these, there are three ongoing airport projects in the Vigan Airport: two of these are Site Acquisition works which will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2021 while the other project is related to the expansion of the Passenger Terminal Building and construction of an administrative building and a power house which are targeted to be completed by the first quarter of 2022.

Secretary Tugade arrived at the Vigan City Airport on Thursday morning.
