Task Force inaugurates newly repaired mosque in Marawi City

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) inaugurated the newly repaired Masjid Disomangcop in Barangay Daguduban, inside Marawi City's most-affected area (MAA), said in an official social media post.

TFBM Chairperson, Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, who also heads the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said that the inauguration of the newly repaired Masjid Disomangcop is a great milestone for TFBM -- being the first mosque to be inaugurated.

Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra expressed his gratitude to the TFBM for always giving importance to the Islamic faith, and to the private donors who extended financial support to realize the project.

Meanwhile, Secretary del Rosario said that there are six mosques being repaired inside Marawi City’s most affected area – three of which are in the first batch expected for completion and inauguration.

The government considers the repair of the mosques as crucial to the social healing of the Maranaos affected by the conflict.

Three signed Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) in August 2020 paved the way for the repair of the three mosques -- Masjid Darussalam in Barangay Raya Madaya, Masjid Disomangcop in Barangay Daguduban, and the White Mosque in Barangay Lumbac Madaya --  through the incentivized utilization of housing developers’ escrow funds.

This is notably the first time that the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) released funds through a legal third party arrangement amounting to P32.14 million from private developers intended for socialized housing development and rehabilitation of calamity-stricken areas like Marawi City.  (MCG/PIA-IDPD/TFBM/DHSUD)
