Aklan receives 2,400 doses of Sputnik V vaccines

KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) – A total of 2,400 doses of Sputnik V vaccine were received by the province of Aklan on Wednesday, July 7.

The vaccines against the coronavirus cisease 2019 (COVID-19) manufactured by Gamaleya Research Institute arrived at Kalibo International Airport (KIA) directly from Manila via Cebu Pacific Air at exactly 9:20 AM.

Personnel from the Department of Health (DOH), Provincial Health Office, Philippine National Police, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, and Disaster Response teams of the province and other towns were present during the arrival to receive the vaccines.

The vaccines were immediately transported from KIA to the Cold Storage Facility at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital.

In a press release, PHO-Aklan said that the province is also ready to receive other vaccines such as the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.  

On June 30, the DOH and the Food and Drug Administration conducted the inspection and assessment of the cold storage facility of Aklan. 

Based on the report of PHO-Aklan, as of July 4, 2021, a total of 30,766 individuals in the province were inoculated with first doses of COVID-19 vaccines. 

These accounted to 7.71 percent of the 398,877 individuals masterlisted under priority groups A1 to A5 of Aklan.

Meanwhile 2.82 percent or 11,260 individuals in the province are now fully vaccinated or had already received their second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. (LTP/SQP/PIA-Aklan)
