MSU-IIT celebrates 53 years of academic excellence

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--To celebrate its 53rd charter day, the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology held a virtual ceremony Monday, July 12, with the theme "Sustaining Gains and Expanding Competencies in Times of Pandemic."

In his welcome message, MSU-IIT Chancellor Dr. Sukarno Tanggol underscored the gains of the university in delivering its mandate of instruction, research, and extension despite the challenges of the pandemic. He specifically cited the recognition that MSU-IIT got from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings as one of the top 500 HEIs in Asia in 2019.

"We have more than doubled our total number of centers of excellence and centers of development, the highest outside Metro Manila. We have also increased our AACCUP levels of accreditation, in fact, about 15 of our programs are now Level 4," he said.

With this, Tanggol expressed appreciation to the faculty, staff, and students of MSU-IIT for contributing to the success of the institution.

"All these were made possible because of the efforts and commitment of faculty, staff, and students to MSU-IIT's values, goals, mission, and vision," he further said.

Meanwhile, MSU System President Dr. Habib Macaayong commended the achievements of MSU-IIT saying it has proven itself as a bastion of academic excellence.

He said since the signing of its charter in 1968, MSU-IIT has become a formidable moving force that inspires innovation, service, and hard work not only to the MSU system but the country as a whole.

During the virtual ceremony, MSU-IIT also recognized its partner institutions and honored its loyal and hard-working employees through its Service Award. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
