CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA)--All 43 barangays of Tabuk City will be provided internet access primarily to help students in their studies.
Poor internet access remains a pressing problem particularly in the hinterland part of Tabuk that hampers online learning modality.
To address this, the city government partnered with the Globe Telecom for the “TM Paaralan” problem which seeks to establish mobile learning hubs equipped with internet facilities in remote communities.
Under this project, the city LGU acquired 50 wifi modem units to be installed at barangay halls open for community use.
The city youth hub located at the city hall compound is also equipped with internet wifi for use of students.
Mayor Darwin C. Estranero said the project will help students in their online distance learning since face-to-face class is not yet recommended this school year.
This project will also strengthen the communication structure of barangay LGUs which is crucial in disaster response.(JDP/LL-PIA CAR)
