Dgte distributes P15k livelihood aid to informal sector

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, July 13 (PIA) -- Families from the informal sector whose livelihood has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and victims of calamities will be receiving livelihood assistance in Dumaguete City.


The livelihood aid grant of P15,000 each will be distributed to 400 qualified recipients on July 13-14 at the City Hall.


Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo confirmed the scheduled of release of grant from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). 


City Sectoral Desk Officer Albert Aquino said this is the fourth batch of beneficiaries from Dumaguete City that have been identified and selected by the DSWD-7 based on the guidelines of the grant.


The beneficiaries include ambulant vendors, massage therapists, waste pickers, farmers, market vendors, 4Ps beneficiaries, typhoon victims in Poblacion 1 (Tinago), and fire victims of Brgy. Junob.


For the conduct of the payout of livelihood assistance, each confirmed beneficiary will be given a coupon with his/her name, payroll number, assigned cashier, and scheduled date and time of the release of the financial aid.


All the required health protocols for the safe release of the DSWD cash assistance will be observed and the beneficiaries are reminded to wear face masks and face shields when they claim their cash assistance.


The DSWD, through the Crisis Intervention Section, provides immediate assistance to clients in distress caused by accidents, natural calamities, sudden loss of job or other unforeseen circumstances which leaves the families or individuals in crisis situation.


Social workers assess the victims for appropriate interventions which may include burial, educational, transportation, medical, food, and financial aid.


They also provide psychosocial interventions that may help improve the well-being of the clients. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CPIO)
