More Antiqueños willing to avail anti-COVID-19 jabs

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) - - Many Antiqueños are now willing to avail of COVID-19 vaccines with the vaccine consumption rate of 94.90% as of July 12.

Information Officer Irene R. Duldoco of Provincial Health Office-Antique, in an interview, said that Antiqueños have become responsive to the call of COVID-19 vaccination program.

“The more vaccines coming in, with more Antiqueños willing to be inoculated, meant so much in our quest for herd immunity,” said Duldoco.
She said that though the percentage of vaccines that the province received is quite far from the targeted population for herd immunity but with the good turn-out of vaccination, it showed that more Antiqueños are willing to be part of the solution to this pandemic.

To date, Antique has received a total 32,212 doses of vaccines, with Sinnovac having the biggest allocation received followed by Astra Zeneca and Gamaleya.
With the coming of Gamaleya where Antique received 2,400 doses recently, vaccination for A1-9 priority or those with family members or living with health frontline workers in the same household was already included in the inoculation target of the Provincial Health Office.

Those family members of health frontline workers assigned in hospitals and Temporary Treatment and Monitory facilities are particularly given priority.
Since Gamaleya is quite sensitive in terms of cold chain management, only those municipalities near the cold storage which is located at the Provincial Health Office, San Jose is covered by the vaccination program.

The top five municipalities with the highest coverage of COVID-19 inoculation are San Jose with 8, 289 doses, Caluya – 3,403, Sebaste – 2,306, Tobias Fornier – 2,109 and Culasi -1,878 doses.

PHO further reported that among the targeted population the A2 priority groups covering the senior citizens have the lowest vaccine coverage with 16.55% while the A1 priority or the health frontline workers group has 60.08% accomplishment and the A3 or group of persons with co-morbidities has 63.96% coverage.
