210 Capiceños avail ‘SURE COVID-19’ program

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – A  total of 210 fisherfolks in the province have availed the P25,000.00 survival and recovery (SURE) COVID-19 loan assistance program of the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Credit Policy Council (DA-ACPC) last month.

“I have repaired my motorized fishing boat which I use as a daily source of livelihood,” said in Hiligaynon a 52-year old SURE COVID-19 beneficiary Antonio Alcudia from Brgy. Pantalan in Pres. Roxas town.

Some of the beneficiaries used the amount as additional capital in their existing fishpen venture and in the purchase of fish gears and tools to further improve their daily income.

The loan facility, which has no interest, non-collateralized and payable in 10 years, is for small farmers and fishers (SFF) and agri-fishery-based micro and small enterprises (MSEs) affected by the quarantine restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It also aims to increase the country’s food adequacy level. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
