Lala eyes Tilanggit production to boost fisherfolk income

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The Municipal Government of Lala is pushing for the production of Tilanggit to further boost the income of local fisherfolk.

During the July 14 episode of Network Briefing News with Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Mayor Angel Yap said they are currently developing their version of Tilanggit as an alternative product for their fisherfolk.

Tilanggit, he said, is a type of dried tilapia prepared similar to danggit.

"Sa akin masarap talaga ito at sa tingin ko mag-hit ito dahil ang danggit mataas ang cost, ito medyo mababa," he said.

[To me, it's really delicious and I think it will be a hit because danggit is more costly, this one is pretty low.]

Economic activities in Lala, which is a first-class municipality in Lanao del Norte, are mostly centered on farming and fishery.

Lala is also popular for its honey-mansi. Yap said Lala's honey-mansi has reached not just the other regions of Mindanao but also Luzon and Visayas. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
