Clarin chief gets jab at 82, urges residents to avail vax

CLARIN, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—"Sa awa ng Diyos, maayos naman ang naging epekto sa aking pagbabakuna; sa edad na 82 years old may maintenance ako na ginagamit subalit okay talaga ang pangangatawan ko."

(By the grace of God, I experienced the good effects of the vaccination. At the age of 82, I take maintenance medicine but my body is really okay)

During the Network Briefing News with Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, July 9, Clarin town Mayor Glory Fe Roa said many people were afraid to get vaccinated, especially the senior citizens, but because of the local government unit’s (LGU) strengthened campaign on the vaccine, they were able to encourage their constituents to get vaccinated.

Roa added that the members of the Inter Agency Task on COVID-19 Response are responsive to the needs of the people and are active in issuing resolutions to guide their constituents. The LGU in return, makes sure that procedures in the locality are based on the national and provincial IATF.

She then urges the residents of the town to support the government's efforts in containing the spread of COVID-19 saying, "Hinikayat ko ang aking mga kababayan na sundin ang minimum health and safety protocols ng gobyerno at higit sa lahat magpabakuna na.”

(I urge my constituents to follow the government's minimum health and safety protocols and most of all, to get vaccinated already)

The mayor also thanked President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the leadership he has shown throughout the country because the officials were able to provide immediate action, especially in the barangays to address the problems of COVID-19.

Continued program, services amid pandemic

Despite the threats of COVID-19, Clarin town continues to implement the priority programs and projects for the year 2021.

“Our priority projects and programs planned for 2021 include the construction of the Municipal Sanitary Landfill in response to Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000,” Roa said.

She added that they also prioritize the construction of housing projects for the informal settlers through the National Housing Authority (NHA) program, and the construction of a new municipal building worth P50 million funded by Second District Rep. Henry Oaminal.

In terms of agricultural and fishery products, the mayor said they have a large variety of fishes in Panguil Bay like lapu-lapu, layang, kitong, malasugui, tarakito, kutob, squid, ulang, among others and they just sell these in the market and in nearby towns and Ozamiz City.

The LGU also continuously supports the tourism sector of the town aside from ensuring sales of local products. (SMRN/RTP/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
