TUBO, Abra (PIA) -- More public schools in the remotest areas of upland municipalities in the province are now able to turn their radios and lights, thanks to the Department of Education- Abra Schools Division Office (SDO).
This electrification project through the initiative of Schools Division Superintendent Benilda Daytaca aims to energize off-grid schools by providing generator sets and other school equipment using savings of Abra SDO.
Three public schools in this municipality and two in Lacub were already given 500-watt diesel generators and portable radio transistors. These are Bacag Elementary Schoo (ES) and Talipugo ES, I and the Pananuman Primary School, Batayan Primary School and Tabacda ES. These schools did not have access to electricity and consequently, very limited access to information and communications technology.
“We will also be giving generator sets in the municipality of Malibcong and other upland municipalities and we hope that these will help our schools to properly implement methods in the learning process especially with the distance learning modality due to the pandemic,” Daytaca said.
This is also in support to the Executive Order No. 70 of President Rodrigo Duterte institutionalizing a “whole-of-nation” approach in ending local communist armed-conflict (ELCAC) towards the attainment of sustainable and inclusive.
