KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) -- A total of 32,592 individuals in the province of Aklan had already received their first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of July 11, 2021, according to the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development.
Based on the record of DOH WV CHD, the province targets to inoculate 179,278 individuals from Aklan who are classified as part of priority groups A1 to A5.
Among the priority group A1 or health care workers and frontliners, a total of 11,385 or 82.03% of the 13,879 masterlisted got their first dose of the vaccine.
For priority group A2, some 16,014 senior citizens aged 60 and above got their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines. Aklan masterlisted 60,201 under this category.
About 3,461 or 8.68% of 39,888 persons with comorbidities (A3) in the province secured their first shot; while 1,732 or 12.87% of 13,454 for essential workers.
Vaccination roll-out for A5 category or those included in indigent population has yet to start in the province. Aklan targets to immunize 51,856 under this group.
Meanwhile, a total of 13,998 people in Aklan are already fully vaccinated or have received their second dose of the vaccines. This accounted to 7.81% of the masterlisted individuals under the priority groups A1 to A5 of the province.
Under priority group A1, some 8,918 have completed their vaccines; while 4,295 for group A2; and 785 for group A3.
Recently, 3,000 tourism workers in Boracay Island had received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccines were provided by the Department of Tourism .
The National Task Force Against COVID-19 has assured that tourism workers in Boracay Island would have enough COVID-19 vaccines to protect them from COVID-19. The island targets to immunize 40,000 tourism workers. (LTP/SQP/PIA-Aklan)
