SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA)- - Two barangays in the Antique were cited in this year's Search for Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA).
Barangay Abiera, Sebaste was declared as the regional winner for the 4th to 6th class municipality category, while Barangay Magsaysay Patnongon won as first-runner up in the 1st to 3rd class municipality category.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- Antique Information Officer Judy Mae M. Sajo said that Barangays Abiera and Magsaysay will receive their respective awards during the DILG Regional Awarding Ceremonies in August this year.
Barangay Abiera in Sebaste will receive P50,000 cash incentive while Barangay Magsaysay in Patnongon will receive P15,000 cash award.
Abiera Punong Barangay Romeo Manalo said that they will utilize the cash prize for Katatungang Pambarangay-related activities, while Magsaysay Punong Barangay Tobias Gaviano said the cash prize will be used to procure office equipment and supplies of the Lupon.
DILG Antique Provincial Director Cherryl P. Tacda expressed optimism that other Lupons in Antique could learn and adapt or replicate the best practices of LTIA winners.
The LTIA is now on its 23rd year, continuing the pursuit of the Department of the Interior and Local Government of recognizing the exemplary performance of Lupong Tagapamayapa in every locality.
Its implementation is a commitment of the DILG to grant economic and other incentives to the Lupons that demonstrated exemplary performance and commendable contributions in the promotion of KP objectives, Tacda said.
The award extends appreciation and recognition to the Lupong Tagapamayapa whose exceptional service delivery performance has significantly contributed to the attainment of the KP objectives, and to generate awareness among and support from the various sectors of the Philippine society on the KP as a potent vehicle toward social ordering and human development.
The LTIA covers all Lupong Tagapamayapa nationwide and are evaluated on the basis of efficiency in operations, effectiveness in securing the objectives of the KP Program, creativity and resourcefulness. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique/DILG)
