Baguio City reaches 100K mark in COVID – 19 vaccination

 

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The Coronavirus disease vaccination program in the Summer Capital continues to  move along   with  total vaccine doses  administered already  reaching   the 100,000 mark and nearing 30 percent of the city’s more than 370,000 population.

The Baguio City Health Services Office, in the Regional Vaccinations Operations Center meeting on Tuesday, reported  that as of its July 12 data, 111,930 COVID – 19 vaccines were  administered to eligible population in the city that include the frontline health workers, senior citizens, adults with co –morbidities and some essential workers.

Of the administered vaccines, 75,237 were given for first dose while 36,693 were for second dose.

As of July  12 inventory of the city HSO, there are 68 doses of Sinovac vaccine  for first dose and 11,002 Sinovac for second dose,  and 9,948 doses of  other vaccines set for second jab.

The City HSO inventory also includes 600 Sinovac doses (for first and second dose) for the Filipino – Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc.

In the said meeting that was also attended by the different provincial VOCs in Cordillera, RVOC chairperson and DOH – CAR Regional Director Dr. Ruby Constantino reiterated the importance of reaching out to majority, if not all, of the senior citizens in their respective areas of responsibilities since they are the most vulnerable to COVID – 19 infections especially with the threat of the Delta variant.

Constantino said the second dose of AstraZeneca and Gamaleya for those previously vaccinated with such type of vaccines are set to be delivered in the region.

Meantime, the City Public Information Office shared that as per the directive of Mayor Benjamin Magalong, vaccinations in Baguio will be implemented seven days a week.  Baguio Country Club will host the Saturday, Sunday and Monday schedules while Saint Louis University, University of Baguio, SM and Saint Louis School Inc. (St. Vincent) are the vaccination venues for the rest of the week. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
