Alexandra Sarsaba, youth coordinator of Barangay Calangahan, Lugait, said during the CORDS-X podcast with PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, July 17, that they are currently designing and maintaining programs that reflect the interests and needs of the youths in the area, which includes sports programs and academic tutoring support.
“As a psychology major, I am constantly learning about human behavior, human emotions, and human thinking. I think that is an advantage in local government service since learning and knowing more about how certain people behave and how they struggle makes it easier for me to determine, assess, and address issues, especially if you’re in a community,” she said.
With the upcoming “Linggo ng Kabataan,” Sarsaba said one of their main agenda was to conduct virtual programs and activities that ensure youth participation and engagement while still adhering to mandated National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (NIATF-MEID) health safety protocols.
Further, as assistance to the government’s COVID-19 inoculation program, they also plan to utilize social media in creating and posting infographics containing accurate information about COVID-19 vaccination program and supplement support for their barangay to conduct COVID-19 vaccination orientations to counter fake news among among the youth in their community.
“To my fellow youth, especially those in barangay Calangahan, I urge you to be proactive and responsive individuals and try to help our community in small and simple ways,” she said. (VPSB/PIA-10)
