Solano women fruit processors get training from DTI

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA)-- At least 15 women villagers of Solano town were recently trained on wine making processing and production.

Mayor Eufemia Dacayo said the trainees acquired the skills through their newly-established Fruit Processing and Development Center Shared Service Facility (FPDCS-SSF) project of the LGU and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The 15 trainees dubbed as 'womenpreneurs' came from barangays Aggub, Bagahabag and Wacal in Solano.

"We hope that our women trainees gained the necessary knowledge and skills to start and manage their business ventures," Dacayo said.

She said the training was offered and funded through the “Balik-Probinsiya, Bagong Pag-asa” Program of the national government.

Henry Conel Jr., DTI provincial director said the project aims to strengthen the food processing industry through the provision of a food processing facility that will ensure the marketability and quality of products that will generate more sales.

The trainees were taught by women winemakers Mary Culhi and Mary Dulnuan of the Malabing Literacy Organization, Inc. (MALOI), an SSF cooperator based in the upland Kasibu town.

MALOI has been making wine since 2013 when the Citrus Processing SSF was first established by the DTI and LGU in the municipality. (MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
