CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) -- Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will be providing free driving courses in a bid to strengthen driver education in the country.
The agency recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to standardize the requirements across the country’s driving schools, apart from making more affordable, and free available training courses.
TESDA Pampanga Specialist Herwina Buenaventura shared that the agreement will help in addressing the demand for quality driving courses, and provide employment amid the pandemic.
“It aims to embed the Theoretical Driving Course and Practical Driving Course provided by the LTO to the courses we will offer to our trainees,” she said.
The MOA will also harmonize the existing training courses for uniformity and standardization, and comply with requirements on the ease of doing business.
In addition, Buenaventura announced that TESDA driving courses are offered for free in regional training centers, provincial training centers, and TESDA-administered schools.
“To those who want to enroll, we have allotted scholarship slots for you. You can use your TESDA certificate of achievements in applying for your driver’s license or permit in LTO,” she said.
Trainees will receive certificates of achievement after completing the learning session, and passing the institutional assessment for the module
In the province, there are two TESDA-administered schools namely the Gonzalo Puyat School of Arts and Trades in San Luis town, and the Provincial Training Center in Guagua.
For driving courses, TESDA offers National Certificate (NC) II in operating light motor vehicles; NC III in Driving Passenger Bus or Straight Truck; and NC III in Driving Articulated Vehicle.
