TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol July 16 (PIA) -- In a span of two days, the COVID-related deaths in Bohol surged from 87 on July 14 to 116 on July 16, but the Bohol Inter Agency task Force (BIATF) explained that the increase is due to late reporting from the local government units (LGUs).
“These are not deaths happening in one day,” said Reyna Deloso who sits at the BIATF's Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
On July 14 at 12:00 noon, the BIATF posted 87 COVID-19 related deaths in Bohol.
By July 15, in its 9:00 a.m. report, the BIATF posted 95 deaths, and in its 3:00 p.m. report on the same day, the BIATF again updated its data to 110 deaths.
"Naay mga late ang reporting sa deaths, mao nga karon pa na report. Nag kamulo [pa] mi [og] reconcile sa data mao nga naay adjustments (There are late reporting of deaths and we had just updated the report. Now we are reconciling the data, and that is why there are adjustments)," Deloso explained.
“Taudtaud na ni sila namatay pero late na report (These deaths happened earlier but were reported late)," she added.
Deloso assured that the BIATF is "still working on the BIATF EOC dashboard for the COVID-19 cases to show that data is close to the real-time figures.”
She said the task force has trained the LGUs who do the updating, "it is just that we are still reconciling the data, so soon we can expect a more updated figure in the cases dashboard."
Protocols also dictate that to be declared a COVID-related death, documentary requirements have to be satisfied and complied with. (RAHC/PIA7 Bohol)
