SAGAY, Camiguin (PIA)--Marking minimal to zero coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Sagay attributes the said feat to residents' compliance to health protocols.
"Nagpapasalamat po kami dito sa Sagay dahil zero, parang zero ata, wala pong COVID ngayon. Dahil 'yan sa effort ng aming municipal mayor. Talagang ang partisipasyon ang importante sa COVID na 'to. Dapat mismo lang sa ating sarili, dapat marunong tayong umiwas," Sagay SK Federation President Dheno Estrada said during the Network Briefing News, July 22.
(We are thankful that we currently have zero COVID-19 cases here in Sagay. That is because of the effort of our municipal mayor. Participation is really important in fighting COVID. Discipline must start from ourselves and we should know how to stay away from the virus)
Estrada said to Communications Sec. Martin Andanar that people in Sagay always listen to the advice of the local officials as well as to the regular information drive of Mayor Joseph Uayan.
For their part, Estrada said they aided in the distribution of relief goods where some of the funds are obtained from the SK’s savings in 2019.
They also volunteered in monitoring the compliance of minimum public health standards such as the wearing of face masks and face shields, and observance of social distancing.
As a frontliner, Estrada has already been fully vaccinated and is encouraging the youth to avail the service of the government once the supply of vaccines is enough for everyone in the province.
"Magdasal tayo na sana magbalik normal na ang mga kabuhayan natin, makapaglaro na tayo sa gusto nating sports. At saka please sana po makinig tayo sa awtoridad, sa ating opisyales dahil sila po ang nakakaalam kung paano sugpuin itong pandemic," Estrada urged.
(Let us pray that we'll go back to our normal way of living, play the sports that we want. Please listen to our authorities and officials as they are the ones who know how to combat this pandemic). (RTP/PIA-10)
