BP2 beneficiaries to get housing, livelihood-DSWD

ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 23 (PIA) – Those who will apply for the government’s Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pagasa program may benefit from various assistance including those on livelihood, housing, education among others. The BP2 is a government strategy to encourage people especially informal settlers to return to their home provinces and eventually decongest Metro Manila.

During the Philippine Information Agency’s (PIA) Kapihan na Zamboanga Public Briefing, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Jade Jamolod explained that many interventions await those who will apply for the program.

“There are a variety of interventions including housing, livelihood and skills training, employment, and many others,” he said.

Jamolod explained that the BP2 is a convergence of programs from government agencies, after a Senate Resolution was sponsored by Senator Bong Go. President Rodrigo Duterte signed the executive order last year.

“We have initially met with some beneficiaries of the BP2, and all of them are very thankful to be back home. This is the first time that such a program is implemented, and it only illustrates the government and the people’s bayanihan spirit to help each other,” Jamolod said.
