2,217 affected Ilonggo workers to benefit from DOLE’s TUPAD

ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - Around 2,217 workers from the tourism industry in the province of Iloilo will benefit from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

These workers' jobs were affected by the temporary suspension of their operations during this pandemic.

Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Iloilo manager Francisco “Bombit” Heler, in a post on Balita Halin sa Kapitolyo facebook page, said the number of beneficiaries came from the list submitted by the tourism establishments to the Provincial Tourism Office.

The recipients came from the municipalities of San Joaquin, Tigbauan, Miagao, Tubungan, Leon, Santa Barbara, Zarraga, Leganes, New Lucena, Pavia, Janiuay, Lambunao, Calinog, Sara, Carles, San Dinisio, Balasan, Ajuy, Concepcion, Oton, Cabatuan, Dueñas, Barotac Nuevo, Batad, Guimbal, Maasin, Alimodian, Pototan, and San Enrique.

DOLE Iloilo field office head Melissa Navarra said the beneficiaries are entitled to P3,950 each but they have to render service four hours a day for 10 days.

In coordination with the local government units (LGUs), the beneficiaries could help in the clean-up activities or assist the LGU in the disinfection or packing of relief goods.

They would be required to submit a daily time record (DTR) and their accomplishment report after 10 days which will be certified by their respective LGU.

Recently, Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. and Navarra handed over certificates of entitlement to five recipient municipalities of the emergency employment program in a ceremonial turn over held at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. (JBG/Balita Halin sa Kapitolyo/laf/PIA6-Iloilo)
