DTI MisOcc holds diskwento caravan to aid locals

TUDELA, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—To aid residents of the province in the midst of the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Occidental in cooperation with the Local Government of Tudela conducted the Diskwento Caravan at Municipal Plaza.

This program aims to provide quality products at discounted prices to consumers within the town.

There were four exhibitors during the activity and the items sold include rice, groceries, health products, dry goods and agri products from Elim Enterprises, Paglaum Multi-purpose Cooperative, Bryant Milling and Marketing and Nature's Spring.

“Ang Diskwento Caravan usa ka regular program sa DTI even before sa pandemya naa na ning Diskwento Caravan. Muadto kami sa usa ka lugar kuyog sa atong mga manufacturer ug distributor nga magdala sa ilang mga baligya nga basic necessities and prime commodities with the discounted price,” DTI Provincial Director Jane Marie Tabucan said.

(Diskwento Caravan is a regular program of DTI, even before the pandemic there is already this Diskwento Caravan. We will go to areas with our manufacturers and distributors to bring their products, which are commonly basic necessities and prime commodities at discounted price)
She also extended the agency’s appreciation to their partners' commitment as well as the manufacturers for the continuous support to the program.

“We are glad that they have been with us all these years. We couldn’t have sustained our dedication to providing the public with various products at discounted prices, or even below the suggested retail prices (SRPs), especially during this pandemic, without their commitment and support,” Tabucan added.

She reiterated to the public, especially the consumers, that DTI closely monitors the movement of price and supply of basic necessities and prime commodities not only during emergency situations, but also during regular days.

On behalf of Tudela Mayor Samuel Parojinog, Executive Secretary Roseto Tampuong said in the next Diskwento Caravan, they target to showcase the products of Tudelanhon like camote delight, linked, banana chips sa balon and farm products.

“Kaming katawhan sa Tudela andam mi musupporta sa kanunay ug mag-uban ta para kung mu-abante ang Tudela mas mu-abante pa gyud ang mga negosyo dinhi sa Tudela, sa MisOcc ug labaw sa tanan among katawhan sa lungsod,” he said.

(We, the people of Tudela are always ready to support and we will work together for the progress of Tudela, MisOcc and most of all for the people in the town)

DTI MisOcc also helps improve the economy by intensifying the assistance to the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

DTI MisOcc Consumers Protection Division Maritess Alcampado said, “We should empower our consumers at the same time we develop the business by supporting our exhibitors.”

The DTI-MisOcc also assured the public that the minimum public health standards will strictly be observed during the Diskwento Caravan. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
