ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--A total of 21 former illegal drug users here are now all set to reintegrate into the community as “reformed” citizens after graduating from the city’s community-based rehabilitation program.

The said reformists represent the fourth batch of graduates from the city government’s  Balay Silangan Program, according to program director and city administrator Leony Roy Ga.

He said they started their reformation journey from May 26 to July 25, this year.

“Dako ang kausaban sa atong mga reformist after makahuman sila sa three months training,” he said during the City Peace and Order Council and City Anti Drugs Abuse Council joint meeting Tuesday, July 27.

[Our reformists have changed a lot after they have completed the three months training.]

Ga said the completers underwent several reformation activities including lectures from the Philippine National Police, Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency, Public Attorneys Office, as well as skills training that they can use to provide for their personal and family needs as they reintegrate into the community.

“And the most important is the value formation activities which were conducted by our pastors under their moral recovery program,” he further said.

To date, 88 reformists have already completed the Balay Silangan program.

Ga said they will conduct another round of the program in August. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
