BFAR provides equipment for salt production in P'sinan town

DASOL, Pangasinan, July 30 (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Ilocos turned over an aluminum van truck to the local government unit (LGU) of Dasol and post-harvest equipment to two residents who are engaged in salt-making.

According to BFAR, the truck and the equipment form part of the post-harvest materials for technology demonstration on salt making.

The turnover of the equipment and vehicle is under the Bayanihan 2 program of the Department of Agriculture (DA)-BFAR.

The truck turned over to LGU Dasol is intended for the use of salt producers to deliver salt and other agricultural products to their markets.

The two residents who received the post-harvest equipment are Neil Buaga and Marlon Solomon.

Likewise, BFAR in Ilocos officer-in-charge Regional Director Rosario Segundina Gaerlan personally delivered to Dasol Mayor Noel Nacar the P1 million prize for Dasol town, which placed second in the regional level of the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) 2018 contest.

Nacar said the local government will use the money for training selected fisherfolk in boat making.

Nacar likewise thanked the agency for all the assistance it is extending to the LGU and for swift actions whenever he requests for materials and technological support.

The town, which is known for its pristine coastal areas, also won the first prize in MMK regional level in 2019 and third prize in the same category in 2020.  (JCR/AMB/EMSA/PIA Pangasinan with reports from BFAR Uno/ RFTFCD-Info)
