BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - Close to 2,000 poor villagers in the province recently received livelihood assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD).
Melisen Taquiqui, DSWD Information Officer, said the assistance was given through their Sustainable Livelihood Program(SLP) which provides funds for various livelihood projects.
She said the SLP funds will be funding the recipients' various livelihood ventures such as variety stores, gardening, vegetable and stree food vending and rice retailing, among others.
"These livelihood assistance grant was given to our poor villagers to enable them to cope up with the COVID-19 pandemic. The beneficiaries were also recipients of our Social Amelioration Program (SAP)," Taquiqui said.
The SLP assistance grant was given to the following municipalities with corresponding beneficiaries: Bambang with 126, Alfonso Castaneda with 234, Sta. Fe with 188, Kayapa with 124, Dupax del Norte with 149, Kasibu with 137, Solano with 194, Ambaguio with 96, Bagabag with 158, Diadi with 320 and Villaverde with 189.
She said the beneficiaries received SLP assistance from P5,000.00 to P15,000.00 depending on their chosen livelihood venture.
Taquiqui said the SLP assistance was sourced from the Bayanihan to Heal As One Fund. (BME/PIA 2 NVizcaya)
