Strictly implement the health protocols

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA)- - The Department of the Interior and Local Government issued directives to the barangays officials in Antique to strictly implement the health protocols amid the detection of COVID-19 delta variant in the province.

DILG 6 Regional Director Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, in a virtualmeeting called for by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 with the barangay officials in Antique, emphasized the important role of the barangay officials to stop the spread of coronavirus.

He said that the Punong Barangay as health frontline workers can do so much to ensure that the mandatory health protocols are being complied by their constituents.

Aside from the compliance to health protocols, the barangay officials with the help of the Philippine National Police should likewise ensure that no super spreader events should be done in their communities.

He also emphasized the importance of COVID-19 vaccination with the detection of different variants in Western Visayas.

Ingeniero enjoined the barangay officials to take the lead in encouraging the community to get themselves inoculated against COVID-19.

Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Leoncio Q. Abiera, also during the said virtual meeting, urged the barangay officials to intensify the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-R eintegrate (PDITR) strategy in their respective barangays.

“Prevention of COVID-19 starts at home,” Abiera said.

He also urged everyone to take responsibility for their actions, pointing out that if one is not feeling well, he or she must remain at home, isolate himself and inform the Barangay Health Response Team.

Those who are going to work every day, but are not feeling well, must also refrain from going to work or office to avoid the possible spread of the virus in the office or workplaces.

He reiterated the call to follow the guidelines on super spreader events that no parties and even family gatherings are allowed when the attendees are from different households.

Abiera reported during the meeting that as of July 31, 2021,  Antique has fully vaccinated a total 50,336 individuals coming from various target groups or 13% of the target 380,271 people in order that the province could achieve herd immunity. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique)
