MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Lanao del Sur provincial government's achievements for the past two years have been magnified as Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. when he delivered his final State of the Province Address (SOPA) Thursday, August 5, during the 30th regular session of the 19th Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
He bared that the province has plotted a 20-year plan called Vision 2040 which will pave the way for development and economic growth while pursuing long-term goals and visions. This entails policy mechanisms to be acted upon by the legislative branch for sustainable development, including local incentives, sanitation and tourism codes, and the creation of a local economic investment and promotions office.
Adiong also highlighted the completed construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure projects which are now fully functional and implemented through the Building Opportunities for a Meaningful Bangsamoro Inclusive Town (BOMBIT) Program.
He added that other projects were done through the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the province and concerning local government units and partnerships with other line agencies.
Adiong shared that they have provided necessary support to their local farmers and fisherfolks by conducting training on agricultural production to educate farmers in expanding their marketing strategy and extending relevant assistance to the province’s constituents for their livelihood support and food security.
He also stated that the provincial government has been continuously reinforcing peace and order throughout Lanao del Sur by coordinating with respective agencies. As such, 129 drug-cleared barangays and three drug-cleared municipalities were hailed in 2020 and 395 cases of rido were resolved since 2019, while illicit firearms, rent-a-gun, and illegal gun purchases and acquisitions were also abolished.
The governor further conveyed there has been a continuous provision of technical assistance through pre-membership education seminars, capacity development, financial assistance and equipment support to established cooperatives.
Adiong also recognized the role of women in society as he maintained to support gender and development saying programs like economic empowerment for women will be pushed to give livelihood to women who lost their source of income due to the pandemic.
The province’s Local Government Functional Appraisal Award (LoGFA) award from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) last year was also mentioned by the governor as he believed this to be an indication of the province’s functional and performing government.
Adiong also cited the health plans which included annual medical missions providing free check-ups and medicines. During this health crisis, the provincial government carries on its support to Amai Pakpak Medical Center and the provincial community quarantine facilities for various capacities and the notable biomolecular laboratory.
Meanwhile, the governor expressed his commitment to bring the province to its best state in the year to come.
“To move Lanao del Sur forward to a destination of equality, prosperity and a better life for all, we will align our work for the next year ahead in order to prioritize areas such as defeating the coronavirus pandemic, accelerating our economic recovery, and implementing economic reforms to drive inclusive growth. We shall continue to prioritize the urgent need to address the most pressing problems in our province today,” said Adiong. (CRG/PIA-ICIC)
