LAMUT, Ifugao(PIA) - - A four storey building worth P18 million was inaugurated on August 5 here to provide the needed services to Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL) for their behavioral treatment.
Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary ) Joseline Niwane led the ribbon cutting of the facility dubbed “Balay ni Ambot” located at the Tourism Village in barangay Mabato-bato, this town.
The "Balay ni Ambot” which refers to “house of hope and happiness” was constructed by the municipal local government with their own budget.
“Usually, Ambot refers to a boy's nickname. A child being a gift from God, he is the joy and hope of the parents,” Mayor Mariano Buyagawan, Jr. explained.
In the coming years, the facility will not only cater to the CICLs but will also serve as refuge of husbands who are in conflict of their wives.
Niwane stressed that CICLs must be dealt by the barangay local government units with care and concern before referring them to the facility. She stressed the obligation of parents to nurture the children physically, emotionally and spiritually.
"Indeed Lamut has proven once again their mantra “Umuna ti Lamut” to construct their own “Bahay Pag-asa” and so explains why Lamut is a consistent awardee of child friendly municipality,” Niwane stated. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
