MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Peace mechanisms in schools and communities will now be strengthened after 27 teachers in this City and Lanao del Sur completed peace education training. 

The participants are Islamic Studies & Arabic Language (ISAL) and Peace Education coordinators and facilitators of the City Schools Division of Marawi and Lanao del Sur 1 Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. 

Elfa Ali  of  the Bae Inomba Blo Bacarat Central Elementary School shared how the training capacitated her to be an effective peace education facilitator.

“The 3-day training on peace education equipped me with the knowledge and skills in sharing peace education. It is needed to have peace of mind within ourselves before we can share with others,” she said.

The World Vision Philippines spearheaded the Trainers Training on Peace Education to create a pool of peace education facilitators at the division level.

The training covers four modules which include Getting Started and Understanding Self, History of Conflict in Mindanao, Challenges for Transformation and Towards a Culture of Peace. (LELA/PIA-10/ICIC)
