Army vows anew to protect, respect human rights

ILOILO CITY (PIA) – The troopers of the Army’s 301st Brigade reaffirmed their commitment to protect, uphold and respect human rights at all times.

This pledge was reiterated anew by the “Bayanihan” troopers led by its commander, Brigadier General Marion Sison, as they celebrate the International Humanitarian Law month.

During the Philippine Army’s simultaneous flag raising ceremony, August 9, which was joined by the 301st Brigade men and women, personnel and

officers from 552ECBn, 6RCDG, 6LAC, and K9 students, they were one in re-affirming their commitment to abide by the international humanitarian law, a press release from the 301Bde Civil-Military Operations Officer Capt. Hazel Joy Durotan said.

This year's International Humanitarian Law Month theme is “Upholding the Law of Armed Conflict Amidst the COVID19 Pandemic: Protecting Humanity for Healing and Recovery.”

“Every Bayanihan trooper will protect and respect human rights at all times,” Sison vowed.

He added “We will always uphold the primacy of human rights. Kaisa ninyo ang inyong 301st ‘Bayanihan’ Brigade sa pagprotekta at pagpapahalaga ng Karapatang pantao nang bawat Panaynon at ng buong mamamayang Pilipino, may pandemya man o wala.”

Recently, the Armed Forces of the Philippines garnered the highest trust and approval rating amongst all government agencies in its efforts to end the communist terrorist group and address the COVID-19 pandemic.

It registered a 67% approval rating in a survey conducted by Publicus Asia, which reflects its commitment to perform its mandate of protecting the people and securing the state.

Durotan said that the rating is also an inspiration in view of the 301Bde’s relentless commitment in protecting the dignity of every human being; and to closely monitor violators of IHL as well as perpetrators of atrocities. (PIA6/CMO-301Bde/Philippine Army)
