ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug 11 (PIA) - President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's administration ushered the country to the "Golden Age of Infrastructure".
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar laid the various accomplishments of the present administration noting infrastructure development among its highlights in an interview over a local media station here.
"We have addressed the previously neglected aspect of our national asset with infrastructure spending increasing to around 5-6% relative to our GDP under the Duterte administration," he said.
Previous data was 1.6% to GDP from 2001 to 2010 and 3% to GDP from 2011 to 2016.
A total of 6.5 million jobs were generated under the Build, Build, Build program from 2016 to 2020.
"In 2021, we are targeting to generate an additional 1.6 million jobs to contribute to the economic recovery as impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Andanar.

As part of the Build! Build! Build! Project of the Duterte administration, the Duterte administration has completed the several projects to make the transportation system more efficient and make travel faster, safer, and more comfortable for the people.
As of June 2021, 214 airport projects have been completed; 451 seaport projects have been completed.
As of May 2021, 29,264 kilometers of roads have been constructed, maintained, widened, and rehabilitated; 5,950 bridges have been constructed, widened, upgraded, and strengthened; 11,340 flood mitigation projects have been completed; 223 evacuation centers have been completed; 150,149 classrooms have been built and constructed.
