DUMAGUETE CITY, Aug. 13 (PIA) -- The Duterte Administration has built on the gains achieved by the country during the previous administration and has implemented additional measures and programs to make the lives of Filipinos “better than yesterday.”
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Martin Andanar highlighted this as he tackled the Duterte Legacy during his interview over DYGB Power 91 FM on Aug. 12.
“Each president that preceded one president duna sila nahimo and the next president builds on it. Ang atong administrasyon mao sad gibuhat. We built on the gains of the previous administration pero gidugangan nato og mas daghan pa (Each president that preceded one president has achieved something and the next president builds on it. That’s what this administration has done. We built on the gains of the previous administration but we have implemented a lot more),” Andanar said.
The PCOO chief cited high-impact projects such as the Cebu-Cordova Link Bridge, the interlink superhighways in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the Bicol International Airport, the Panglao International Airport in Bohol, Farm to Market (FMR) roads, and classrooms as some of the tangible proof of the Duterte administration’s achievements on infrastructure development.
Andanar reported that under Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s flagship infrastructure program dubbed “Buld, Build, Build,” around 29,000 kilometers of concrete road have been constructed along with 5,900 concrete bridges, 452 seaports, and 214 airport facilities.
In terms of policy, Andanar said the Duterte Administration also had some landmark policies enacted, such as the Tax Law, Bangsamoro Organic Law, Free Education Law, Universal Health Care Law, Freedom of Information, and the Presidential Task Force on Media Security.
Andanar also added that providing medical assistance to the poor has been a priority of the President and through the efforts of Sen Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go, the government established Malasakit Centers around the country which provides financial services for hospitalization.
On peace and order, Andanar said 22,000 barangays were cleared of drugs while more than P59 billion worth of drugs were confiscated by the government.
On the other hand, the country’s crime volume also dropped to 65% under the current administration.
The PCOO chief stressed the importance of communicating the Duterte Legacy to NegOrenses.
“Importante ma-promote ang legacy sa usa ka presidente para matatak sa mga kababayan nato kung unsa pasabot sa serbisyo publiko (It’s important to promote the legacy of a president so that the public would know what public service really means). It’s about setting the benchmark of service to the Filipinos,” Andanar said. (RAL/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
