ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Aug 13 (PIA) – Thirty-five (35) young Isabelenos were trained as future leaders during the HAPIsabela Youth Summit, which was conducted on August 10-12 in Isabela City.

The local government of Isabela City de Basilan through its Local Youth Development Council, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation conducted the first-ever HAPIsabela Youth Summit that aims to develop young Isabelenos’ skills, talents and personalities.

Different speakers have graced the activity who shared their knowledge on personality development and leadership, among others.

The summit also focused in training the youth to actively participate in community engagement through governance, agriculture and food security, civic engagement, environment, peace and security, health education, entrepreneurship, culture, tourism and art and youth empowerment.

Moreover, Mayor Hataman shared that the basis of her calling was always in doing public service.

“If the desire is still in my heart for that specific work, it means I am still being called to do that,”  she said.

Mayor Hataman challenged the young Isabelenos who are also youth leaders to become progressive leaders in the future who will lead Isabela City to become more progressive and successful.

The HAPIsabela Youth Summit was conducted as part of the activities in line with the Linggo ng Kabataan as stated under Section 30 of the Republic Act No. 10742 or the Sanggunian Kabataan Reform Act of 2015 that mandates the observance of Linggo ng Kabataan in every barangay, municipality, city and province on the week where the 12th of August falls to coincide with the International Youth Day.
